Working at the place in the sun!
Since August 2011, a unique three-storey building at the federal road B253 between Dillenburg and Biedenkopf has been demanding attention of a lot of passing drivers. Focal point of the innovative construction is a rotating office building providing space for offices and training rooms on three floors and a total area of 450 m². Additionally, storage space of 2.000 m² has been created in the related premises. The solar modules built over a large area immediately show that technological progress and environmental protection are smoothly going hand in hand.

Since the foundation of his company in 2006, the owner and solar entrepreneur Frank Luckenbach has established himself as a trustworthy supplier of photovoltaic systems. At the new company location of the ‘Solarzentrum Mittelhessen’ there isn’t only more space – but a vision put into practice. The futuristic prestigious building offering an innovative concept gives clear signals that the place in the sun doesn’t have to be a utopia anymore. Here, a forward-looking technology centre for renewable energies has come into being: the groundbreaking ‘SUN-house’. Built on a rotating platform with a diameter of 20 metres and carried by 1480 heavy-duty castors, it can follow the sun’s path by means of a small electric motor. By its appealing architectural and colour design, the rotating solar house reflects the advanced and close-to-nature philosophy of solar technology and thus signals the full commitment to renewable energies.

However, not only the building is impressive, but also the energy efficiency. Together with the installed solar systems on the warehouses, the SUN-house provides enough electricity to supply 100 detached houses without any problems. Further existing technology is clearly giving direction towards the future. Air conditioning and heating, for example, are guaranteed by air-water heat pumps making the building and its solar technology energetically largely self-sufficient. In order to allow Managing Director Frank Luckenbach and his team progressive working also in the future, the interior equipment was focussed on the use of environment-friendly materials and furnishings, too. Based on criteria such as quality, functionality and environmental compatibility, "Knorz Bürosysteme" started to implement the working worlds of the SUN-house with PALMBERG furnitures.

The offices were furnished with tables from the ‘PENSUM’ series. Besides its clear design, ‘PENSUM’ particularly convinced by the ingenious, tool-free height-adjustment 'Easy Push' that offers every employee the opportunity of bringing the workplace into the proper position at the touch of a button. The offices of the SUN-house were completed with PALMBERG meeting tables as well as PRISMA 2 and SELECT storage space versions. In the entrance hall the communication furniture KIT welcomes the visitors and ensures relaxed communication between employees and guests. Additionally, the choice of colours establishes a coherent atmosphere in the offices and the foyer. "We are convinced that the PALMBERG furniture is supporting well-being and efficiency of our employees and guests.", Frank Luckenbach concluded.
